MalletA hammer with a large, usually wooden head.

Combination SquareA combination square is a tool used for multiple purposes in woodworking, stonemasonry and metalworking. It is composed of a ruler and one or more interchangeable heads that may be affixed to it. The most common head is the standard or square head which is used to lay out or check right and 45° angles.

Spokeshave - spokeshave is a tool used to shape and smooth woods in woodworking jobs such as making wheel cart wheel spokes, chair legs, paddles, bows, and arrows. Historically, a spokeshave was made with a wooden body and metal cutting blade.

Marking Gauge - marking gauge, also known as a scratch gauge, is used in woodworking and metalworking to mark out lines for cutting or other operations.

Marking Knife - marking knife (striking knife) is a woodworking layout tool. It is used to scribe a line to be followed by a hand saw or chisel when making woodworking joints and other operations.

Mortise Chisel - Mortise chisels are used for 'chopping out' joints (chiselling away the waste wood). They are particularly useful for cutting mortise joints as they are strong enough to withstand heavy blows with a mallet. The handle is normally made of ash or beech with a steel hoop at the top to stop it splitting.

Claw hammer - A hammer with one side of the head split and curved, used for extracting nails.

LIST OF MEASURING TOOLS AND GADGETS

LIST OF MEASURING TOOLS AND GADGETS
FOR CONSTRUCTION

MEASURING TAPE

tape measure or measuring tape is a flexible ruler and used to measure distance. It consists of a ribbon of cloth, plastic, fiberglass, or metal strip with linear-measurement markings. It is a common measuring tool.

POCKET RODS

This unique grading rod is compact like a tape measure.

MEASURING WHEEL/WALKING TAPE MEASURE

measuring wheel, formally called a surveyor's wheel, is a construction measuring tool. The wheel rotates and, using basic rotational kinematics (s=rθ), you can determine the distance between two points.

DIAMETER TAPE MEASURES

diameter tape (D-tape) is a measuring tape used to estimate the diameter of a cylinder object, typically the stem of a tree or pipe.

RULERS (WOOD/ STEEL / FIBER/ METAL)/ ANGLE GAUGE

ruler is a device for with measurement markings on it and used for measuring.

SURVEYORS ROPE

It is used for rough surveying measurements, the Surveyor's rope is a strong measuring tool with a handle that can also be used for measuring water depths.

LEVELS

Level instruments are a class of instruments designed to display and/or transmit a signal that corresponds to the level of the material that is being measured within a containing vessel.

TALLY METER

tally counter is a mechanical, electronic, or software device used to incrementally count something, typically fleeting.

LASER MEASURE

Laser tape measures are alternatives to traditional metal tape measures

CALIPERS

An instrument for measuring external or internal dimensions, having two hinged legs resembling a pair of compasses and in-turned or out-turned points.

THEODOLITE

A theodolite is a precision optical instrument for measuring angles between designated visible points in the horizontal and vertical planes.

CONSTRUCTION CALCULATORS

A device used for making mathematical calculations, in particular a small electronic device with a keyboard and a visual display.

LEVELING ROD / ROD HEIGHT STICK

A graduated rod used in measuring the vertical distance between a point on the ground and the line of sight of a surveyor's level.

RAFTER ANGLE SQUARE

A right angle is the standard by which all carpenters build. It gives you 45- and 90-degree angles, it's also a ruler, and it's not hard to measure other angles with it
FRAMING ANGLE SQUARE / PROTRACTORS

The steel square is more commonly referred to as the framing square or carpenter's square. It consists of a long, wider arm and a shorter, narrower arm, which meet at an angle of 90 degrees (a right angle).

T-SQUARE

A T-shaped instrument for drawing or testing right angles.

PLUMB BOBS

A bob of lead or other heavy material forming the weight of a plumb line.

CHALK LINE AND MARKERS

chalk line or chalk box is a tool for marking long, straight lines on relatively flat surfaces, much farther than is practical by hand or with a straightedge. They may be used to lay out straight lines between two points, or vertical lines by using the weight of the line reel as a plumb line.

STUD DETECTORS

stud finder is a valuable tool that makes the job of finding studs behind a wall very simple.

DIGITAL CALIPER

The Digital Caliper (sometimes incorrectly called the Digital Vernier Caliper) is a precision instrument that can be used to measure internal and external distances extremely accurately.
